RIYADH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) marked World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8 by celebrating the efforts of humanitarian workers for “their inspiring role in pushing forward the wheel of development.”

SRCA President Dr. Jalal Al-Owaisi said the authority is keen to consolidate and spread human values and enhance community awareness.

He praised humanitarian workers for their role in alleviating the suffering that the coronavirus pandemic has imposed on peoples around the world.

“The SRCA is entering its second year in the face of the coronavirus crisis, and ambassadors of life continue to fulfil their responsibilities toward the community by providing emergency services to those who need them and contributing to educating community members through training courses and awareness lectures and implementing community initiatives,” Al-Owaisi said.

He voiced his thanks to all SRCA workers, including ambulance crews, administrators and volunteers, for their efforts to save lives and alleviate the suffering of all members of society, and praised their “inspiring role in pushing forward the wheel of development in the humanitarian work provided by the SRCA.”
