Eastern Province authorities carried out 1,328 inspection tours in a single day across malls, commercial centers and stores to monitor adherence to safety precautions.
During the tours, 17 commercial facilities were closed, while 62 violators were issued penalties for ignoring health measures, which led to overcrowding and failure to use the Tawakkalna app.
The municipality said it received 57 reports about violations and urged all commercial facilities to respect and abide by regulations to ensure public safety and prevent the virus from spreading.
On Saturday, Jeddah municipality announced it has intensified its efforts to disinfect and sterilize public facilities, buildings and headquarters, as part of precautionary measures to combat the pandemic, targeting more than 26 sites during the first quarter of this year.
The municipality explained that the plan included civil and military government buildings, centers and shops, public parks, residential buildings, and other sites that witness high density and numbers of residents and visitors.
