GCC chief urges Iran to halt supporting militias

RIYADH: The secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, on Tuesday held a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU countries to the Kingdom.
They reviewed ties between the GCC and EU and discussed regional and international issues.
The GCC chief highlighted the GCC-EU ties based on “trust” and “mutual respect.”
He highlighted the important role the GCC played in promoting regional and international peace and security. He called on the international community to mobilize all efforts to help the Yemeni people.
Al-Hajraf also emphasized the importance of allowing the GCC take part in any negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear issue to ensure regional security.
He also urged Iran to stop interfering in the internal matters of other countries and abandon its support to various terrorist groups currently active in the region.
The GCC secretary-general also stressed the importance of boosting GCC-EU ties in all fields.  
UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths also called on Al-Hajraf on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Al-Hajraf highlighted the firm position of the GCC in supporting Yemen and enhancing its security and stability by helping the internationally recognized government operation from Aden.

He reviewed the efforts of the UN envoy for a political solution to the Yemen issue.
