RIYADH: The Royal Danish Embassy in Riyadh recently celebrated its partnership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
Danish Ambassador Ole E. Moesby hosted a dinner at the embassy to celebrate the successful partnership between Grundfos and the SCE in the presence of SCE Secretary-General Farhan Alshammari, and Abdulaziz Daghestani, general manager of Grundfos.
Several members of SCE, Grundfos, and the mission also attended the ceremony.
Moesby highlighted the partnership between Grundfos and SCE and called it a great example of the Saudi-Danish exchange of knowledge and expertise to help resolve water shortage in the Kingdom.
According to the Danish Embassy, more than 8,500 engineers have benefited from the partnership.
The Danish company Grundfos is one of the largest manufacturers of advanced water pumps and a pioneer in water solutions technology in the world and supports global sustainability by providing traditional and smart energy-saving pumping solutions, in addition to renewable energy-powered pumps that suit various purposes and meet the requirements of various sectors including commercial buildings, factories, clean water, and sanitation facilities, said the Embassy.
From March 2018 to September 2020, Grundfos organized many training courses that benefited 2,512 engineers in Saudi Arabia, while more than 6,000 engineers benefited from the courses since the beginning of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, it added.
The training courses offered to engineers include 15 different fields with more than 70 majors and sub-topics, varying between pumping operations, electricity, and other technical topics.
The courses contribute to providing new graduates with a full set of basic skills and knowledge about pumps and sustainable solutions.
Daghestani expressed his satisfaction over the prestigious level of the training programs offered to Saudi engineers.
He thanked the SCE for giving the company an opportunity to contribute to the development of the Kingdom.
The training programs were offered in seven major cities in Saudi Arabia. These programs come within the framework of the company’s responsibility toward the local community, Daghestani said.
Grundfos also intends to establish cooperation with the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training to develop a similar training program for Saudi technicians to help improve their professional skills and provide them with valuable knowledge.
Saudi Arabia is Denmark’s 24th-largest export market, which is chiefly made up of medicines, and food products of mainly dairy and eggs. The Kingdom exports machinery, mechanical appliances, electrical and transport equipment, petroleum, and vegetables to Denmark.
On Feb.1, 2020, the two countries marked the 45th anniversary of bilateral ties.
